Marvel’s first “phase two” superhero film will be arriving this summer, following their biggest hit yet with The Avengers, and the first footage has landed today. After the studio-timer (er, fan support) hit its goal on Facebook, this quick tease for Iron Man 3 has been released in anticipation of this Tuesday’s full trailer.
Following Jon Favreau‘s disappointing second entry into the franchise, the major draw this time around comes from Kiss Kiss Bang Bang‘s Shane Black, who directed and co-wrote the film. While its impossible for this to make any sort of impression on his work, we do get our first glimpse as Ben Kingsley as our villain The Mandarin, who looks to be putting Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) in peril. Check it out below for the film that also stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale and Jon Favreau, as well as the official synopsis.
Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?
Iron Man 3 arrives on May 3rd, 2013.
