With the Cannes line-up locked down, we’re finally starting to get some new and first looks at the fantastic in-competition line-up. A new batch of stills from some of the major features have landed. First up, following the excellent trailers, we’ve got three new stills of David Cronenberg‘s Cosmopolis, featuring star Robert Pattinson getting a trim and then about to blast through his hand. Then we’ve got a first look at Matteo Garrone‘s dark comedy Reality, from a director who last gave us the staggering crime drama Gomorrah.
We haven’t seen anything from the film yet, but a behind-the-scenes still has also arrived for Michael Haneke‘s Amour, starring Emmanuelle Riva and Jean-Louis Trintignant. The film is set to be distributed by Sony Pictures Classics in the US, so hopefully we’ll get some more information soon. Following that there’s a new batch of images from Jacques Audiard’s Rust & Bone, starring Marion Cotillard and Matthias Schoenaerts, last seen in the Oscar-nominated Bullhead. Check out a teaser for that here.
The biggest reveal of all comes with new images from Lee Daniels‘ follow-up to Precious. The Paperboy. Based on the 1995 novel of the same name by Pete Dexter (whose novel Deadwood inspired the HBO series), the cast includes Zac Efron, Nicole Kidman, Matthew McConaughey, John Cusack and David Oyelowo. This one looks to be a grimy, campy Southern drama. Cusack looks to eat it up as the villain, while Kidman is clearly far removed from her normal glossy roles. Check out all the photos below.
