This summer, Lionsgate tried to help everyone (instantly) forget about Miley Cyrus‘ latest acting vehicle LOL, releasing the film into just a handful of theaters opposite The Avengers. Their strategy worked, as that Marvel movie made more, on average, in just a single theater screen, then the entire opening gross of LOL. But that doesn’t get the Disney starlet down, as she already has a new film ready for release.
We’ve got the first trailer for So Undercover today, co-written by the once-promising Allan Loeb (who started his career off with the underrated Things We Lost in the Fire, and has since devolved with projects like Here Comes the Boom, Rock of Ages and Just Go with It) Directed by Tom Vaughan (What Happens in Vegas, Extraordinary Measures), things play out pretty much exactly how one would expect with obvious jokes, a retreaded plot and more. For some reason, Jeremy Piven and Mike O’Malley also needed money, so they signed up for this thing and you can see the result below.
When the FBI hires her to go undercover at a college sorority, Molly Morris (Cyrus) must transform herself from a tough, streetwise private investigator to a refined, sophisticated university girl to help protect the daughter of a one-time Mobster. With several suspects on her list, Molly unexpectedly discovers that not everyone is who they appear to be, including herself.
So Undercover lands this December in the UK, among other countries, with no US date set yet.
