I think it’s fair to say you’ve never seen a Christmas party quite like the one teased in the first trailer for the quite literally titled Office Christmas Party, which features a star-studded comedy cast including Jason Bateman, Kate McKinnon, T.J. Miller, and Olivia Munn all on their worst behavior.
The premise is simple: when their CEO (Jennifer Aniston) threatens to shut down their branch, a group of employees (Bateman, McKinnon, Miller, etc) decide they should have a Christmas party to win over a big client and save the day. What they didn’t account for was just how out of control that party would get.
It’s an effective set-up, and the trailer starts with some insane imagery of a corporate office completely destroyed (a la The Hangover 2 trailer) before winding the clocks back and showing the cause of the carnage. All players look to be game, and despite a handful of writers credited on the screenplay (five, to be exact), hopefully some cohesion of narrative and theme can be found amongst the improv and mayhem.
Check out the trailer below for the film that also stars Jamie Chung, Karan Soni, Abbey Lee, Jillian Bell, and Rob Coddry.
When his uptight CEO sister threatens to shut down his branch, the branch manager throws an epic Christmas party in order to land a big client and save the day, but the party gets way out of hand.
Office Christmas Party hits theaters on December 9th.
