wolverine

Just when you think the “delightful daggers” of surprise couldn’t penetrate any deeper, Logan/Wolverine pushes them further and further in to the point of no return, and then does a twist – that’s going to leave a good sort-of ache; masochism at it’s finest.

It’s being reported by Vulture that the actor behind the detailed/hundred-proof film-recreation of Wolverine, Hugh Jackman has officially confirmed that Darren Aronofsky (The Fountain, The Wrestler, Black Swan) will be piloting the direction of the new film, Wolverine 2.

Jackman was quoted saying, “This is Wolverine. This is not Popeye. He’s kind of dark. This is a change of pace. Chris McQuarrie, who wrote The Usual Suspects has written the script, so that’ll give you a good clue. [Aronofsky’s] going to make it fantastic. There’s going to be some meat on the bones. There will be something to think about as you leave the theater, for sure.”

Aronofsky has been known on all accounts to not only infuse gloom into each of his films but focus on heightened levels of plot manipulation through introspective imagery. If Aronofsky has the same game-plan he’s diligently constructed on past films there’s not a glimmer of doubt that Wolverine 2 will be ruled a success and captivate audiences everywhere. When you go big, you go dark: it’s the new formula for success in Hollywood i.e The Dark Knight, Alice in Wonderland etc.
Wolverine 2 is looking to shoot this March in NYC and Japan for a 2012 release.

How do you feel about Aronofsky directing?
