It looks like the third time was the charm for David Ayer, as his recently released End of Watch is enjoying box office and critical acclaim (which comes as a bit of a surprise). With this added clout, things are moving fast on his fourth feature, already securing an impressive cast including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sam Worthington, Mireille Enos and Olivia Williams. Variety now has another addition to Breacher (or according to some, Ten), with Lost and The Matrix star Harold Perrineau joining the film. Unfortunately no details on his role, but perhaps he is one of our main ten members in the project that follows a corrupt DEA task force.
The Hollywood Reporter also has some casting news, as Mike Epps has comed aboard the Zoe Saldana-led Nina Simone biopic simply titled Nina. The actor, who will return for The Hangover Part III next year, is keeping up his comedic side taking on the role of Richard Pryor. The late entertainer passed away in 2005, but was an integral part of Simone’s career, opening for her in the 1960s. Cynthia Mort begins production on her directorial debut this week for a likely 2013 release.
Lastly, we’ve got news from Deadline on the latest drama from Gregg Araki (Mysterious Skin, Kaboom), titled White Bird. The Descendents star Shailene Woodley is already in place to lead as the woman whose life starts to upend after her mother disappears, but now Shiloh Fernandez, who will be seen next year in both the Evil Dead and The East, has joined the project in an undisclosed role. Eva Green rounds out the cast for the drama gearing up production soon.
Which casting most intrigues you? Are you looking forward to all three projects?
