After a string of just about the worst comedies Hollywood has to offer (except for the slightly under-appreciated That’s My Boy), Adam Sandler may finally be getting back to halfway passable territory for his next project. He was lining up a comedic western with his Happy Madison gang, but thanks to Seth MacFarlane‘s Ted follow-up in the same vein gaining steam, Sandler’s version has been dropped.
Now, according to Variety, he has set his sights on a Warner Bros. romantic comedy that’s currently untitled, but will follow “a couple who, after a disastrous blind date, find themselves stuck together with their kids from a previous marriage.” With Sandler playing one-half of the couple, rumor has it that his 50 First Dates star Drew Barrymore would join opposite him.
While their last collaboration at least gave us something watchable, here’s hoping this one will be a step ahead of this recent bile Happy Madison has been spewing out. Unfortunately before we get to this one, Grown Ups 2 is standing in our way this summer. This new project could kick off production this May as the search for a director is currently underway.
Would you like to see this two reunite? Could Sandler make a good movie ever again?
