What have you done the past year? For Québec’s Xavier Dolan, two of his films received U.S. theatrical distribution, he premiered another on the fall film festival circuit, and shot yet another feature — and he doesn’t turn 25 until next month. Today brings a new look at one of the projects from the prolific, young filmmaker, with the debut of the Canadian trailer for Tom at the Farm, which stopped by Venice and TIFF last year.
After his sprawling, nearly three-hour romantic drama Laurence Anyways, Dolan takes a much different approach here. Adapted from Michel Marc Bouchard‘s play, the film clocks in at just over 90 minutes and sees the helmer in psychological thriller territory, tracking a young ad executive who heads to a funeral, only to realize no one there knows of his relationship with his now-dead lover.
This unsettling, visually stunning teaser will hopefully stir up some U.S. distributors to take hold of this one, which stars Dolan, along with Pierre-Yves Cardinal, Lise Roy and Evelyne Brochu. Check it out below, along with an international poster.
Tom at the Farm hits Canada on March 28th, France in April, and is currently seeking U.S. distribution.
