While some concert films feel like an elaborate gimmick that does little to actually recreate the euphoric experience of seeing your favorite artist, we can be sure that’s not the case with the ever-eccentric Björk. The Icelandic artist recruited Nick Fenton and Peter Strickland (director of Berberian Sound Studio) to capture the events of her global tour, specifically a 2013 performance at Alexandria Palace in London and the results are Björk: Biophilia Live.

Following a festival tour, the film will now be touring the globe this fall for a great number of screenings (detailed here), and the first trailer has dropped today. It looks to be an unparalleled cinematic concert experience as animation footage and shots of nature and science are melded with the music of  Björk. So, whether or not you are under the influence, it seems like something not be missed and one can check out the trailer and poster below.

‘biophilia live’ is a concert film by nick fenton and peter strickland that captures the human element of björk’s multi-disciplinary multimedia project: biophilia. recorded live at björk’s show at london’s alexandra palace in 2013, the film features björk and her band performing every song on ‘biophilia’ and more using a broad variety of instruments – some digital, some traditional and some completely unclassifiable. the film has already been hailed as ” a captivating record of an artist in full command of her idiosyncratic powers” (variety) and ” an imaginative stand-alone artwork” (hollywood reporter) and is a vital piece of the grand mosaic that is ‘biophilia.’
