Released in the summer of 2010, the original animated property of Despicable Me was one of the year’s biggest successes, grabbing nearly $550 million worldwide. So, as common practice in Hollywood, Universal Studios put a sequel in motion and three years later, it is set to arrive. After initial teaser detailing barely anything in the way of plot, we’ve now got a new theatrical trailer for Despicable Me 2, set to debut alongside The Croods this weekend.

The major draw for audiences from the first film was the inclusion of the minions and they look to be back in full force here. The inclusion of Eminem is a bit surprising, but it just looks to skew way too kiddie for my tastes, unlike the animation offerings of some other studios. The film will also see the return of voice acting from Steve Carell, while he’s joined by Kristen Wiig, Miranda Cosgrove, Russell Brand, Ken Jeong, Steve Coogan, Moises Arias and Al Pacino. Check out the trailer below, along with a new poster, for the film directed by Chris Renaud and Pierre Coffin.

Despicable Me 2 lands on July 3rd.
