We’ve seen bits of footage from Tom Hooper‘s upcoming musical adaptation of Les Miserables in the various trailers, but now Universal has unloaded our first substantial look with five separate clips totaling six minutes from the film. One can see Hooper continue his floating camera, wide-angle aesthetic from his Oscar-winning drama The King’s Speech and we’re also privy to the windpipe talents of Anne Hathaway, Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne and Samantha Barks, as they belt out various hit songs, all recorded live on set. While it seems impressive here, I wonder if the nearly three-hour result be grating, but for now, one can check out all the footage below.

Les Miserables opens on Christmas Day.
