It may seem like we’ve been overloaded on posters and clips for Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac, and while it’s still above and beyond most independent productions, we can’t forget that there’s a great deal still tucked away, considering the 4-hour runtime (and 5.5 hours for director’s version). As a U.S. release date finally set , with Nymphomaniac: Part One landing on March 6th, 2014 ahead of a March 21st, 2014 theatrical release, while Nymphomaniac: Part Two hits VOD on April 3rd, 2014 and a theatrical release on April 18th, 2014, our latest chapter tease has landed.
Highlighting the seventh of eight chapters, this is perhaps the least suggestive of the batch, as we find our lead character Joe (Charlotte Gainsbourg) ridding herself of certain objects to quit sex, and, according to von Trier, her sexuality entirely. Check it out below and head back in a few weeks for the final chapter tease.
Chapter 7: The Mirror
The image you see in a mirror will at first glance seem like an exact replica of the object you’re looking at. However, this is in fact false, as the object will always be a mirrored, and thus flawed, version of the original object.
Joe tries to rid herself of her sexuality.
Update: Listen to Charlotte Gainsbourg‘s Beck-produced cover of Jimi Hendrix‘s Hey Joe from the Nymphomaniac soundtrack.
