Taking a brief break from the onslaught of this year’s fall film festival coverage, we’ve got our first look at a film that we’ll likely be seeing a year from now, the World War II drama Suite Française. Directed by Saul Dibb (The Duchess), The Weinstein Company is currently in production on the project with Michelle Williams, Matthias Schoenaerts, Kristin Scott Thomas and Sam Riley.
Producers sent over the above first look, which comes from the film based on the Irene Nemirovsky novel. One can see Williams as Lucile, a French woman who begins forming romantic interest in Bruno (Schoenaerts), the German soldier staying in her home as Nazi forces take hold of her native country. An unlikely bond is threatened when Lucile’s mother-in-law (Thomas) gets in the way.
Heading back to the fall festival slate, our first look at Colin Firth in Atom Egoyan‘s West Memphis Three drama Devil’s Knot has also arrived. Playing private detective Ron Lax, he’s part of the ensemble that includes Reese Witherspoon, Stephen Moyer, Mireille Enos, Kristopher Higgins, Seth Meriwether, James Hamrick, Alessandro Nivola, Collette Wolfe, Kris Polaha, Amy Ryan, Dane DeHaan and Matt Letscher. Check it out below, coming from you know where, for the film premiering at TIFF.
Are you looking forward to both dramas?
