For those not in a major city, last week provided the welcome news that VOD-friendly distributor Magnolia will be doing what they do best and releasing Terrence Malick‘s romantic drama To the Wonder on both video on demand and in limited theaters a week from Friday. To gear up for the release, we’ve now got over eight minutes of footage from the film, spread out across five clips. Before we get to them, we’ve also got word on a few previous Malick collaborators that are coming together for a new project.
According to Deadline, Saar Klein (who was part of the editing team on The Thin Red Line and The New World) is set for his directorial debut, a drama called Things People Do. Starring Wes Bentley and Haley Bennett (two actors who worked with Malick on his recently shot features), the film also brings together Vinessa Shaw and Jason Isaacs.
Produced by Doug Liman, the film will follow Bentley as “a family man who loses his job and embarks on a life of crime,” while Bentley plays his wife and Isaacs is set for a detective role. The Side Effects actress figures in as a “stranger he meets along his journey who inspires him to commit a crime in her honor.” Production kicks off today in New Mexico and in the meantime, one can check out the footage from Malick’s latest below from Wing Clips (via The Playlist) for the film starring Ben Affleck, Olga Kurylenko, Javier Bardem and Rachel McAdams.
To the Wonder hits limited release and VOD on April 12th.
