After breaking out in Kingsman: The Secret Service earlier this year, Taron Egerton‘s next role finds him taking on an inspirational sports story. Eddie the Eagle, directed by Dexter Fletcher (Sunshine on Leith) and produced by Matthew Vaughn, follows the true story of Michael Edwards, who is determined to become Great Britain’s first Olympic ski-jumper under the guidance of Hugh Jackman‘s character.
“Every kid should see this movie, because it reminds people that you don’t have to win to be a winner,” Jackman tells USA Today. “Eddie the Eagle might not have ended up on the medal podium, but he was victorious. It’s a story of a man who had a dream, and nothing was going to stop him. “
The first trailer has now landed ahead of a release early next year, and it looks like a fairly entertaining drama. It also had an early screening at BNAT this last weekend, where it seemed to be well-received.
