After their hilarious and touching debut I Love You, Phillip Morris got shafted by distributors and audiences alike, Glenn Ficarra and John Requa created a certified hit with their ensemble rom-com Crazy, Stupid, Love. last year. With that clout, they are now looking to bring some of that ensemble to their next project, Deadline reports.
Ryan Gosling may have a bit of a Hollywood bromance with his Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn, already starring in two of his projects and attached to a few others, but there is someone of the opposite sex that also tickles his fancy. WB already re-teamed them in this year’s Gangster Squad, but Gosling and Emma Stone are looking for a third reunion on the next project from their CSL directors. Titled Focus, WB already has a deal in place for the duo to direct and they want the duo that had on-fire chemistry to star.
While nothing has been offered, we’ll have to wait and see if their busy schedules line-up. As for the film, it “tells the story of a veteran con man who gets involved with a newcomer to the grifter business. They get involved romantically but that becomes perilous in a business where they lie and cheat for a living. The complications of the encounter haunt them when they meet up again in the future.” It sounds a lot less light than Crazy, Stupid, Love., but the directing duo brought a nice gloss that was fitting for that story. It’s nice to see them headed in a different direction.
Would you like to see Gosling and Stone team up again for a third time?
