Recently named as one of our top 50 films of 2014, we said Xavier Dolan‘s Mommy “is a richly affecting film about the notion of controlling your own life when your child, your responsibility, seems hell-bent on derailing it. Easy answers aren’t given, and there’s a key moment in the film that rings incredibly hollow — a feeling taken away just when you actually bite into the lure. Dolan’s work is moving and painfully beautiful, with astounding performances throughout.”

After a qualifying run last year, it’ll now enter limited release in a few short weeks and for the occasion we have an excellent video essay from The Seventh Art and TIFF on his career thus far. To go along with that, there’s a batch of new clips from the film, which amount to well over ten minutes. They don’t have English subtitles yet (which isn’t necessary for a few), but do a strong job showing off Dolan’s use of music and visual design. Check out everything below, including new behind-the-scenes-images and see the first clip, the trailer, and more here.
