It’s an ugly day outside, so let’s look ahead to some future rainy day distractions, shall we? Today we’ve got the first posters for: To Be Heard, the beat poetry documentary that’s gaining momentum on the film festival circuit, the inevitable sequel Despicable Me 2, and the Sundance hit comedy Our Idiot Brother.
First up is To Be Heard, a passion project created by Amy Sultan, Roland Legiardi-Laura, Edwin Martinez, and Deborah Shaffer. Shot over a four year period, this documentary follows the trials and travails of three teenagers trying to survive their soul-crushing surroundings through the power of spoken word.

Synopsis:
To Be Heard is the story of three teens from the South Bronx whose struggle to change their lives begins when they start to write poetry. To Be Heard will be screening at various festivals in the coming weeks. Check their site to see when this inspirational indie is screening near you.

Next up, the follow-up to Universal’s 2010 international hit Despicable Me. Personally, I thought the first film was cute and yet mediocre. But after banking more than $500 million worldwide, a sequel to the tale of supervillain-cum-single dad Gru was guaranteed. Still, I like Gru and the girls, and would be curious to see them in a new adventure. So, I’m disappointed to see a minion get center-stage on the poster with the tagline “More Minions. More Despicable.”
Was I the only one who found those things wholly annoying and ugly?

Despicable Me 2 will invade theaters Summer of 2013.

Finally, Paul Rudd teams with Zooey Deschanel, Emily Mortimer and Elizabeth Banks to play Our Idiot Brother. This comedy by The Château director Jesse Peretz, garnered buzz at Sundance where it was called My Idiot Brother. [Check our review here.] But will the humor prove too quirky for a mainstream audience? We’ll soon see.

Synopsis:
As the titular ‘Idiot Brother’, Rudd plays a hippie farmer who gets arrested after selling weed to an officer in uniform. When he gets out, he goes back to live with his mom and three sisters as he tries to get back on his feet while making one painfully stupid decision after another because he blindly swears by the kindness of others and is generally just dumb.
Our Idiot Brother opens August 26th, 2011.
