As the year closes out, there’s only a few major films that have yet to get in front of the public eye. Aside from the blockbuster options, we’re awaiting American Hustle and particularly The Wolf of Wall Street, but with AFI Fest recently kicking off, they’ll unveil two more features with Out of the Furnace and Lone Survivor. Ahead of the premiere early next week, we now have a new trailer for the latter film.
Coming from Peter Berg (Hancock, Battleship), the film stars Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch, Ben Foster, Emile Hirsch and Eric Bana tells the story of four Navy SEALs on an ill-fated covert mission to neutralize a high-level Taliban operative who are ambushed by enemy forces in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan. If you didn’t know this true story, the title itself gives away the results, but it looks like Berg has returned to a smaller scale to craft an intense war drama, with some Wahlberg banter thrown in. Lone Survivor hits limited release on December 27th, before going wide on January 10th.
