In the summer of 2011, both Jamie Foxx and Ken Jeong delivered the funny in two Warner Bros. projects. While the latter returned for The Hangover Part II, the former had one of the season’s funniest roles as a criminal in Horrible Bosses. Now, the duo plan to team for not one, but two comedy projects.
LA Times reports they’ve done a switcheroo of sorts, as Foxx is signing on for the lead role in a comedy Jeong has written and produced. Titled After Prom, project finds Foxx in a “comedy about two old high school friends, one a jock and the other a cool dude, who must now steer their teenage children through their own prom gantlet.”
In another buddy comedy of sorts, Jeong has taken a role in a film produced and written by Foxx called All-Star Weekend. The comedy is yet again about two friends, this time in a battle due to their love for two separate NBA stars, one being Kobe Bryant and the other LeBron James. A bigger cast is already set for this one, with Foxx himself showing up alongside Kevin Hart.
While I’ve questioned a few of Jeong’s roles, he is still one of the funnier comedians working in Hollywood. Both of these projects have promising concepts, so hopefully these two funnymen can produce something worthwhile together. The NBA one is set for independent financing, so hopefully it comes together while the Prom story could end up becoming a studio project.
Are you looking forward to these two projects?
