It’s not very often that we see a 8-minute short get so much attention, but for Jesus Orellana, this is the case. According to THR, 20th Century Fox is in final negotiations to acquire Rosa, based from Orellana‘s animated short of the same name.
Here’s the plot summary for Rosa, written by Orellana via its IMDB page:
“In the near future, humanity has disappeared, leaving behind a large megalopolis devoid of natural life. From the destruction awakes ROSA, a robot part of the KERNEL project, mankind’s last attempt to restore the earth’s ecosystem using recovered samples of long-extinct plant species. Wandering among the ruins of the lifeless city, Rosa will soon discover that she is not the only part of Kernel that has awakened.“
Orellana directed, produced and wrote the low-budget animated short and will also direct the live-action feature film. Rosa went viral about a month ago and has already generated a very big fan appeal and media attention, obviously. It has been noted that a scribe has be hired to build on the storyline and characters provided by Orellana.
