After having a successful theatrical run in France last year, The Weinstein Company are hoping U.S. audiences connect with Populaire this fall. Coming from writer-director Régis Roinsard, they’ve now debuted the charming first domestic trailer for the film that follows a receptionist with a particular gift. Set in the 1950s, the film stars Romain Duris (The Beat That Skipped My Heart), Déborah François (L’enfant) and the Oscar-nominated Bérénice Bejo (The Artist) and one can see the trailer below.

Synopsis:

Rose Pamphyle (Déborah François), 21, is determined to break free from her stifling existence. Living with her widowed father and dreary husband, she seems destined to remain a bored housewife. That is, until she applies for a job at an insurance agency and the charismatic boss offers her a job.

Despite making a terrible receptionist, she types exceptionally fast. Suddenly, Rose finds herself entering a typing contest and is thrust into a completely new world.

Populaire opens on September 6th.
