Judging from its box office take this weekend, audiences seem to have no problem bypassing Bryan Singer‘s latest effort, Jack the Giant Slayer, and focusing their sights on next summer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, the 20th Century Fox blockbuster that will follow up Matthew Vaughn‘s X-Men First Class. The X-Men and X2 director has been bringing together quite and ensemble for the film and today we’ve got another addition.
Singer himself announced on Twitter that Omar Sy, star of the $425 million-plus grosser The Intouchables, will be joining the cast, but no mention yet of who he will be playing. Some have speculated he could be taking on the role of antihero Bishop, but we’ll find out soon enough. Sy will be joined by Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore and Peter Dinklage.
As for another prominent X-Men actor, we’ve got word from Shadow & Act that Storm aka Halle Berry may be coming back. While speaking to the actress she said talks are currently underway and barring any mishaps, she should be able to return to the franchise, with the latest film set to bring production next month. As for Sy, he can next be seen in Michel Gondry‘s Mood Indigo, set to hit international screens this spring with a US debut hopefully to follow soon after.
X-Men: Days of Future Past opens on July 18th, 2014.
