Released last year, the 21 Jump Street reboot was one of most refreshing comedies to come out of Hollywood as of late and Sony has wasted little time putting together the sequel. Featuring the return of directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who also have The LEGO Movie coming out earlier next year, the first trailer for 22 Jump Street has now arrived.
Having conquered high school, the follow-up finds Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill heading to college for another undercover mission. As one can see in the preview below, this sequel features the return of some familiar supporting characters, and packs the same funny in-jokes regarding the rebooted franchise we’d expect. Set for a release this summer, check it out below, along with the official synopsis.
Update: See the green band trailer, which adds a handful of new jokes.
After making their way through high school (twice), big changes are in store for officers Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) when they go deep undercover at a local college. But when Jenko meets a kindred spirit on the football team, and Schmidt infiltrates the bohemian art major scene, they begin to question their partnership. Now they don’t have to just crack the case – they have to figure out if they can have a mature relationship. If these two overgrown adolescents can grow from freshmen into real men, college might be the best thing that ever happened to them.
22 Jump Street opens on June 13th, 2014.
