Yesterday saw the debut of our first look at Darren Aronofsky‘s Noah, a biblical epic that Hollywood is hoping will have cross-over with both Christians and a global action-hungry audience. Today brings a trailer for another spring film that is clearly going after the former, with an adaptation of Todd Burpo and Lynn Vincent‘s hit novel Heaven Is for Real: A Little Boy’s Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back.

Coming from  Randall Wallace (Secretariat), the film, based on a true story, follows Greg Kinnear as a man who is challenged after his son goes through a life-threatening surgery, in which he believes he was in heaven for a brief time. Faith-based films have long since struggled to overcome being overt and clearly designed solely for their audience, so hopefully this one can bridge the gap. Set for a timely release around Easter, check out the trailer below for the film also starring Kelly Reilly, Connor Corum, Margo Martindale and Thomas Haden Church.

Did you read the novel? What do you think of the first trailer?
