With a Toronto International Film Festival 2011 premiere confirmed, Sony has unveiled a new trailer for Bennett Miller‘s drama Moneyball. Written by The Social Network Oscar-winner Aaron Sorkin, it is based on Michael Lewis‘ nonfiction bestseller Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game. It stars Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Robin Wright, Stephen Bishop, Kathyrn Morris, and Chris Pratt.

While the first trailer introduced us to the basic characters and the baseball backdrop, the latest one via Latino Review gets into some of the number crunching elements.  I only watched the first minute or so since I want to save the rest for seeing it at TIFF, but check it out below.

Synopsis:

Based on a true story, Moneyball stars Brad Pitt as Billy Beane, the general manager of the Oakland As and the guy who assembles the team, who has an epiphany: all of baseball‟s conventional wisdom is wrong. Forced to reinvent his team on a tight budget, Beane will have to outsmart the richer clubs. The onetime jock teams with Ivy League grad Peter Brand (Jonah Hill) in an unlikely partnership, recruiting bargain players that the scouts call flawed, but all of whom have an ability to get on base, score runs, and win games. It‟s more than baseball, it‟s a revolution – one that challenges old school traditions and puts Beane in the crosshairs of those who say he‟s tearing out the heart and soul of the game.

Moneyball hits theaters on September 23, 2011.
