When it comes to under-the-radar dramas we expect to make a major splash on the fall festival circuit, the one that comes immediately to mind is Nightcrawler. Written and directed by Dan Gilroy (The Fall, The Bourne Legacy), one of our writers recently got a look at the script and had nothing but high praise. Tonight we now have the first glimpse at what to expect.
Uploaded inconspicuously on YouTube, the first teaser introduces us to Jake Gyllenhaal (who lost significant weight for the role) playing Lou Bloom, a young man who dives head-first into the nocturnal world of L.A. freelance crime journalism. While that specific hook isn’t unveiled yet, one can see Gyllenhaal seeking employment below. Also starring Rene Russo, Bill Paxton and Riz Ahmed, expect this one to premiere at TIFF before an October release.
Nightcrawler will be released by Open Road on October 17th.
Are you looking forward to the drama?
