The trailer for one of my most anticipated films of the year has arrived. Half Nelson and Sugar director/writers Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck‘s next film, It’s Kind of a Funny Story stars Zach Galifianakis, Keir Gilchrist, Viola Davis, Zoe Kravitz, Jeremy Davies, Emma Roberts and Lauren Graham. The drama comedy is being described as a teen version of One Flew Over The Cuckoos’ Nest with the tone of The Breakfast Club. Check it out below via Yahoo.

Plot: Stressed out from the demands of being a teenager, 16-year-old Craig checks himself into a mental health clinic. There he learns that the youth ward is closed and finds himself stuck in the adult ward. One of the patients, Bobby, soon becomes both Craig’s mentor and protege. Craig is also drawn to another 16-year-old, Noelle. With a minimum five days’ stay imposed on him, Craig is sustained by friendships on both the inside and the outside as he learns more about life, love, and the pressures of growing up.

After making two of my favorite films of the last decade, I absolutely can’t wait to see how the duo changes up their style with their third project. From the trailer, it looks to have a great number of laughs and emotion.
Focus Features is releasing the film on September 24th.
What do you think of the trailer? Do you like the Boden/Fleck departure?
