Funny man Danny McBride is in talks to star in Eastbound and Down scribe Shawn Harwell’s The Chadster, a wedding comedy “about a best man who has his position threatened when an eccentric, long-lost childhood friend shows up at the wedding and causes trouble” [Pajiba]
Sounds like You, Me and Dupree meets Wedding Crashers meets The Best Man. All solid comedies at least. The Hangover director Todd Phillips, once set to direct the feature, will still produce under his company, Green Hat Films. The film’s set up over at Warner Brothers.
McBride has put in good work so far, which is enough to forgive to blandness of the premise upon first read. Hopefully his redneck charm can pull it off.
