With the success of this summer’s Kung Fu Panda 2, scribes Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger have been tapped to write the Disney fantasy comedy Wish List. Reese Witherspoon it set to star in the film from veteran Disney producers Mark Ciardi and Gordon Gray of Mayhem Pictures. [THR]

Wish List will tell the story of a workaholic adult whose perfect life is thrown upside down when all the wishes they made as a child magically come true. Judging by the small synopsis, Witherspoon seems like a perfect fit for this type of role and could definitely bring a lot of energy to the character. Based on the surprise of their DreamWork hit, I’m sure Ciardi and Gray will have no problem formulating a fun, happy script that will make both kids and adults laugh.

The project has been sitting around the studio since 2001, where it was originally set for a male comedy star. The search for new writers began back over the summer when Witherspoon signed on and has now been revived with the Panda writers finally confirmed.

The writers have also worked on Monster vs Aliens, Kung Fu Panda and the various Alvin & the Chipmunks movies, with the latest hitting theaters in December. Wish List won’t start production until after the scribing duo finish writing the big-screen adaptation of the childhood board game Candyland, but is set for a 2013 release date.
