Learn the ‘Timeline of World Cinema’ In One-Hour Video Series

Written by on April 24, 2014

In case you don’t have 15 hours to carve out for Mark Cousins‘ comprehensive The Story of Film: An Odyssey (which is on Netflix, and having seen it all, I believe it’s worth a watch), we have a more concise journey through film history today. Courtesy of Ministry Of Cinema, they’ve produced and released a six-part video series titled The Time of World Cinema that gives a one-hour overview on the birth and evolution of the medium.

With the chapters Pre-Classical Cinema, Rise Of The Studio System, The Golden Age Of Hollywood, The Foreign Wave, New Hollywood and Contemporary Cinema, it sways heavily towards the studio side of things, but is a fairly zippy, well-constructed series. So, before you get in line next month for the latest summer tentpole, get a little education by clicking play below.

What do you think of the video series?
