With the excellent, initial Toronto Film Festival 2012 title announcement this morning, the wave of first looks keep rolling in. We’ve got the first still from Sally Potter’s Ginger and Rosa, previously titled Bomb. One can see stars Elle Fanning and Alice Englert above in the period drama and they’re also joined by Timothy Spall,Oliver Platt, Jodhi May, Alessandro Nivola, Christina Hendricks and Annette Bening. The official synopsis reads, “As the Cold War meets the sexual revolution in 1960s London, the lifelong friendship of two teenage girls (Elle Fanning, Alice Englert) is shattered by ideological differences and personal betrayals.”
Shrek and Chronicles of Narnia director Andrew Adamson is also premieing a new film at the festival, which features House star Hugh Laurie. The first look today features Laurie and newcomer Xzannjah Matsi in the story that takes place during the Papa New Guinean civil war. Laurie plays “an eccentric schoolteacher [who] forms a unique bond with a young girl over their shared love for Charles Dickens‘ Great Expectations.” Check out the still below.
TIFF kicks off on September 6th and ends on September 16th.
