After heading down a different road with the kinetic thriller Hanna, director Joe Wright returned to form with last year’s gorgeous take on Anna Karenina. For a potential future project he’s now eying another reinvention of a classic story.

According to Variety, the Pride & Prejudice director is looking to give Peter Pan a new origin story. Set up over at Warner Bros., details are scarce on the Jason Fuchs-scripted project, but it’s said to include the elements we’d predict, notably Neverland and Captain Hook. The studio is also keen on making the project a priority after taking a liking to the latest draft from the Ice Age: Continental Drift writer.

As someone who admires Wright’s visual style, particularly what he brought to his last film, I’d certainly be looking forward to what he does with what I’d imagine is his biggest project yet. The idea of another Peter Pan tale isn’t the most narratively exciting, but we’ll have to see if this is indeed what Wright directs next.
