Last January we reported that Lionsgate “took back” Saw VI director Kevin Greutert to direct the upcoming Saw 3D. He was originally going to direct Paranormal Activity 2. With Paramount scrambling to find a director there were many names tossed around the hat, such as Brian De Palma, Brad Anderson and Greg McLean.

Deadline reports they went a different direction, hiring Tod “Kip” Williams to direct the sequel to last summer’s low budget smash hit. Williams is best known for directing The Door in the Floor, the film featuring a incredible performance by this year’s Oscar winner Jeff Bridges. The original director and current producer, Oren Peli issued this statement:

Paranormal Activity 2 will start filming in May for an October 22nd release (next to Saw 3D).

Are you looking forward to the next Paranormal Activity? Are you happy with the director?
