If you saw the green band trailer for Ivan Reitman‘s No Strings Attached, you may have written off as a no-frills romantic comedy that goes through all the motions. Consider my surprise after attending a test screening last month and the barrage of swearing, sex, and all-around crudeness of the film. Unfortunately the film dips into standard rom-com territory in the second half, but this new red-band trailer from Cinema Blend shows off its naughty side. I’d actually highly suggest avoiding the trailer below, as it gives away many of the funniest moments, but if you must, see it below. The film stars Ashton Kutcher, Natalie Portman, Kevin Kline, and Ludacris.

Synopsis: In this comedy, Emma (Natalie Portman) and Adam (Ashton Kutcher) are life-long friends who almost ruin everything by having sex one morning. In order to protect their friendship, they make a pact to keep their relationship strictly “no strings attached.” “No strings” means no jealousy, no expectations, no fighting, no flowers, no baby voices. It means they can do whatever they want, whenever they want, in whatever public place they want, as long as they don’t fall in love. The questions become – Can you have sex without love getting in the way? And can their friendship survive?

No Strings Attached hits theaters January 21st, 2011.

Are you surprised this is an R-rated comedy? Will be checking it out?
