With MGM’s high-profile financial woes still ongoing, reports came out in April that production on the Sam Mendes-directed Bond 23 had been suspended indefinitely. Now, I don’t think many of us would have had any major concerns that the film would not see the light of day. This is, after all, James Bond we’re talking about. One of the biggest franchises in cinema, and after being completely reinvigorated in recent years there was not much chance of it being consigned to history just yet.

For anyone who may have been more than a little concerned about what the future holds for 007 however, producer Michael G. Wilson has attempted to allay their fears. Speaking at the launch of the latest Bond video game Blood Stone, he told the associated press:

Both Barbara [Broccoli, his Bond co-producer] and I are convinced that we’ll be bringing you another Bond film soon.

It’s not much of a reveal, and MGM are a long way away from any kind of stability, but at least it’s something relatively reassuring from someone heavily involved in the project. Let’s hope the wheels start rolling on production again soon though.
