According to Variety, Pulitzer Prize-winning author, playwright and filmmaker David Mamet will script and direct a new film about the life of Anne Frank, the young Jewish girl who lived with her family in an attic hiding from the Nazis, for the Walt Disney Company.

Mamet will base his script off of the original diary as well as the original play by Albert Hackett and Frances Goodrich.

While Ms. Frank’s story was previously turned into an Oscar-winning film in 1959 (also written by Hackett and Goodrich), Mamet is one hell of a writer and this is a project I think we can all look forward to.
