Although she signed on to star in Michel Gondry‘s latest film The Foam of Days, or Mood Indigo, it seems that Léa Seydoux has been forced to take a step down from her leading role due to scheduling conflicts. As The Playlist reports, the Farewell, My Queen star is going to be replaced by newcomer Charlotte Le Bon.

Le Bon hasn’t had much acting experience to date, aside from her role as Ophelia in Astérix et Obélix: On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. She will join Audrey Tautou, Romain Duris, Gad Elmaleh and Omar Sy in the fantasy drama. Here’s the synopsis of the film:

“Colin is an absurdly wealthy young man who is so taken by love and its power that after wedding his beloved Chloe, he gives his friends Chick and Alise a sizeable chunk of his fortune so that they too can marry and be happy! Sadly, Chick instead uses the money to enhance his collection of writings by philosopher Jean-Sol Partre, which sends Alise into a bizarre bit of revenge. In the mean time, Colin and Chloe’s fairytale romance is thwarted when she is diagnosed with a curious disease that causes a water lily to grow in her lung. The only treatment (not cure) is to eternally surround her in flowers, which becomes financially crippling to Colin.”

Although he dabbled with a high budget and special affects for his last film, The Green Hornet, I’m really glad to see Gondry going back to the kind of pictures that made me fall in love with his directing style. Even though he lost his leading lady, he’s still got some impressive names and an intriguing story line to go off of. His other project, The We and the I, is currently in post-production, while is next is set to shoot April 16th.
