As another reminder that, yes, Fox is actually making a sequel to Percy Jackson, THR has the news that Yvette Nicole Brown (Community), Missi Pyle (The Artist), and Mary Birdsong (The Descendants) have signed on to play “the three fates.” Thanks to some raised eyebrows and an expedient Google search, I stumbled across the series’ wikia page — forever proving my theory that anything has its own fan-operated wiki — which manages to provide some handy information.
In Rick Riordan‘s fantasy world, the Fates are “the three white-robed personifications of destiny in Greek mythology [that] controlled the metamorphical* thread of life for every living thing from birth to death.” (Not that I’ll ever see this thing, but the only thought going through my head during their screentime would be, “There’s Shirley from Community.”)
The three of them are joining returning stars Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario, and Brandon T. Jackson, as well as newcomer Douglas Smith. Based on Riordan‘s book, Thor Freudenthal is directing a script from Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski that follows “the trio of friends, who go to the titular sea to find the mythical Golden Fleece and to free a friend who has been captured there.”
Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters will open on March 26th, 2013.
Does this feel like sound casting? Do you even care that a second Percy Jackson is coming?
