Sure, you’re stuck at home — or your office, in line at the grocery store, waiting to fill out a DMV application, etc. — reading this instead of skipping down the streets of Cannes, going from one major film to the next with nothing but cinema on your mind. Sure, it’s unlikely you’ll ever get to make the trip. Sure, this is only getting increasingly depressing.

But, bless the Gods, we have previews of festival titles, here to quench just a bit of your thirst. They are for, in order: Amour Fou, currently our favorite film screening there; Respire, the next feature from writer-director Mélanie Laurent; In the Name of My Daughter, André Téchiné‘s umpteenth collaboration with Catherine DeneuveNadav Lapid‘s The Kindergarten Teacher; Charlie’s Country, from Rolf de Heer; and Jonas Alexander Arnby‘s When Animals Dream. A peek, a reminder of what to mark down, and not one Competition title to be found.
