After getting an impressive biopic with Love & Mercy a few years ago, Brian Wilson is back in a new documentary on the formation of The Beach Boys‘ classic album “Pet Sounds.” Aptly named The Beach Boys: Making Pet Sounds, the film goes behind-the-scenes with interviews from the album’s creators, Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine and Bruce Johnston, as well as former member David Mark.

Ahead of a premiere on Showtime next month, the first trailer has now arrived. While it looks to take the conventional form of a talking heads documentary, the promise of rare footage and outtakes makes it a essential watch for fans of the band. Check out the preview below.

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the release of ‘Pet Sounds,’ Brian Wilson and surviving members of The Beach Boys (Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston and David Marks) revisit the writing and recording of the landmark record that is consistently voted one of the top three influential albums of all time. Featuring exclusive interviews, classic archive and rare studio outtakes from the recording sessions.

The Beach Boys: Making Pet Sounds will premiere on Showtime on Friday, April 7th.
