After taking part in Ice-T‘s comprehensive documentary on the history of hip-hop last year, Nas is getting behind another film tackling the same subject, but in a very different capacity. Directed by Adam Sjoberg (We All Might Make It), Shake the Dust looks at the hip-hope and b-boy/street dancing culture in Colombia, Cambodia, Uganda and Yemen. Not only executive produced by Nas, the artist is said to be creating new tunes for the project.

“What these kids are doing around the world reminds me why I fell in love with hip-hop and how important it is as a creative and constructive outlet,” Nas tells THR. “After hearing Adam’s vision for this project and hearing the stories, I was incredibly excited to help bring the film to global audiences who need to hear this surprising message of empowerment.” Still awaiting U.S. distribution, check out the trailer below.
