Fans may never see the Top Gun sequel the late Tony Scott had planned, so they’ll have to settle for the next-best thing. His 1986 Oscar-nominated hit returns to theaters in 3D next month, letting movie goers once again bask in all the aerial dogfights and shirtless volleyball that made the film so iconic. This release — which marks the action drama’s 25th anniversary — will showcase footage re-mastered from its original negatives and, then, enhanced by the conversion, which was overseen personally by Scott prior to his death. A trailer for the event is here to get audiences hyped for the experience and help them feel the need — the need for speed.

Maverick, Goose, and Ice Man’s return to big screen precedes the movie’s subsequent Blu-ray release on February 19th. Top Gun hits theaters in IMAX 3D for only six days, from February 8th to the 13th.
