Following a pair of international trailers, we’ve now got our first theatrical look at Liam Neeson‘s next action vehicle, a sequel to his break-out hit Taken. This time around Colombiana‘s Olivier Megaton takes on directing, in the story that revolves around a revenge plan enacted upon Bryan Mills by the family of all the baddies he killed in the first film. His wife (Famke Janssen) gets taken, followed this time by him, and it’s up to his daughter (Maggie Grace) to save him.
The latest trailer provides a longer look at many of the setpieces, which seem to include some more car action. Things also get poetic and operatic during a montage of the violence on display. Megaton thankfully is toning down his overproduced flashy effects for what should be a worthy follow-up — and how can one go wrong when Boris the Blade (aka Rade Šerbedžija) is the baddie? Check out the new theatrical trailer below, along with a French poster since that just feels right, coming from the Luc Besson group.
Taken 2 hits theaters October 5th.
