‘Swinging with the Finkels’ Trailer Featuring Mandy Moore and Martin Freeman

Written by on August 10, 2011

Before he goes off to fight Smaug in The Hobbit, Martin Freeman will be trying to save his marriage with Mandy Moore. No, the two actors aren’t married in real life, but you should also remember that Freeman doesn’t live in Middle Earth. I find myself making this rambling, failed joke because the trailer for Swinging with the Finkels, which stars both of them, has just shown up.

In fact, “rambling, failed joke” is a somewhat appropriate description of said trailer, but only “somewhat” because this awful piece of marketing is only a little over a minute long. I spend a decent amount of time watching previews, and it isn’t often that I actually go back through one because I want to marvel at how poorly constructed it is, but this is one of those rare cases. And then it just ends, practically mid-sentence! Unbelievable. The movie itself also looks bad; a sex comedy about two people that want to make their marriage exciting again by sleeping with another couple, yet nothing about it looks even remotely funny. It’s a shame that a great actor like Freeman seems to be wasted here.

Watch the trailer below:

Directed by Jonathan Newman, Swinging with the Finkels also stars Jonathan Silverman, Melissa George, and Jerry Stiller, and will open in a limited release on August 26th.

What do you think of this trailer? Does this look like a comedy you would have any interest in?
