While she’s been seen in Desperado, From Dusk Till Dawn, and more, Salma Hayek recently got the opportunity to lead her own action vehicle. Coming from director Joe Lynch (Knights of Badassdom), Everly finds the star playing a call girl who gets a hit put on her and her family and so she goes on a killing rampage when it comes to those trying to kill her. The first international trailer has dropped and while it doesn’t look to be a final version, it gives a sense of the action madness in store.

We said in our review, “Everly finds its charm in the unique way Lynch utilizes the single-room gimmick, the energy that he brings to the film, the much-needed mythology it builds, and the simple fact that Hayek is a powerful on-screen presence. There are some genuinely great action bits mixed in with a handful that are a bit more tired, and the overall package is full of ups and downs. Ultimately, the hiccups can’t keep Everly from providing a mostly entertaining ride.” Check out the trailer below.

Update: See the official trailer below.

It’s Christmas time, but all is not well in the world of Everly (Salma Hayek). A call girl by trade, Everly has turned against her gangster boss Taiko (Hiroyuki Watanabe) and become a police informant. In response, Taiko has put out a hit on Everly and her family. Soon, every criminal in town wants to cash in. Everly’s survival instincts quickly kick in as she matches wits and firepower with Taiko and a seemingly endless stream of killers.

Everly will be released next year by Radius-TWC.
