It’s been some time since we’ve seen Michael Keaton on the screen in any sort of substantial role, but the next few years will mark a bit of a resurgence for the actor. He’ll take part in two blockbusters (RoboCop and Need for Speed), as well as lead Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s dark comedy Birdman, but before all that, he has a thriller titled Penthouse North, and we’ve got the first look today.

After being shot around 16 months ago, an international trailer has landed for the film from Sleeping with the Enemy‘s Joseph Ruben, with a script by David Loughery. Starring Michelle Monaghan as a blind photojournalist forced to play a deadly game of cat and mouse with a sadistic criminal (Keaton), who will stop at nothing to retrieve a fortune of stolen diamonds hidden in her penthouse apartment, unfortunately this trailer isn’t too promising. Seemingly giving away every plot twist, the tone seems off and we wouldn’t be surprised if it heads straight-to-DVD. Check it out below thanks to The Playlist.

Expect a 2013 release for Penthouse North.
