New International Trailer For James McAvoy’s ‘Filth’ Plays Dirty

Written by on July 10, 2013

Sick, twisted, sexy, depraved, warped and dirty — those are just a few words that kick off the latest trailer for Filth. While we’ve already had two other teases, this one is being billed as our first full trailer and while it doesn’t look to be red band, it packs the snappy, crude humor we’re looking forward to in this adaptation of an Irvine Welsh novel.

Led by James McAvoy, playing a corrupt policeman, the film is directed by Jon S. Baird, who helmed Cass and was a producer on Green Street HooligansFilth opens in Scotland on September 27th and elsewhere on October 4th, but no U.S. date has been set yet. Check out the entertaining new trailer below for the film starring Jamie Bell, Imogen Poots, Jim Broadbent, Eddie Marsan, Joanne Froggatt, Emun Elliott, Martin Compston and Kate Dickie.

Scheming Bruce Robertson (James McAvoy), a bigoted and corrupt policeman, is in line for a promotion and will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Enlisted to solve a brutal murder and threatened by the aspirations of his colleagues, including Ray Lennox (Jamie Bell), Bruce sets about ensuring their ruin, right under the nose of unwitting Chief Inspector Toal. As he turns his colleagues against one another by stealing their wives and exposing their secrets, Bruce starts to lose himself in a web of deceit that he can no longer control. His past is slowly catching up with him, and a missing wife, a crippling drug habit and suspicious colleagues start to take their toll on his sanity. The question is: can he keep his grip on reality long enough to disentangle himself from the filth?
