Fargo and Legion‘s Noah Hawley has made his feature film directorial debut with Lucy in the Sky starring Natalie Portman. Ahead of a TIFF bow and October release, Fox Searchlight has unveiled a new trailer for what looks to be a fitting double bill with Ad Astra or another TIFF selection, Proxima.

The film conveys the transcendent experience of female astronaut Lucy Cola, (Portman), who desires to go back into space after feeling that her world on Earth is too limiting as she begins to lose touch with reality. Jon Hamm co-stars as her astronaut rival pushing back against her efforts. Rounding up the star-studded cast is Dan Stevens, Zazie Beetz, Nick Offerman, and Ellen Burstyn.

In LUCY IN THE SKY, Natalie Portman plays Lucy Cola, a strong woman whose determination and drive as an astronaut take her to space, where she’s deeply moved by the transcendent experience of seeing her life from afar. Back home as Lucy’s world suddenly feels too small, her connection with reality slowly unravels.

Lucky in the Sky premieres at TIFF and opens on October 4.
