Sam Worthington continues to carve out his military/cop character niche with Man on Ledge. Where his last effort, The Texas Killing Fields, had Worthington playing a Texas detective set on catching a crazed serial killer, his next has him portraying a disgraced cop who goes to great lengths (and heights) to clear his name. One good trope deserves another, I guess.

In Man on a Ledge, New York City cop Nick Cassidy (Worthington) has been wrongfully convicted of stealing a diamond worth $30 million. His last chance to prove his innocence hinges on a wild plot that involves an escape that lands him perched on a skyscraper’s ledge and begging the help of police negotiator Lydia Anderson (Elizabeth Banks). While the plotline is intriguing, the trailer below is mediocre at best. And it seems Summit Entertainment has little faith in the feature, as they’ve assigned it a release date in January, a popular dumping ground for less than auspicious fare.
